around the house..

January 25, 2015

I will do a complete house tour at a later time, but I thought I would share some of my favorite spots around the house so far.

Dining Room

We haven’t had a dining room table since our first apartment together, so I definitely was excited for it. We waited 3 months for this reclaimed wood table from Restoration Harware to be delivered, and I think it was well worth the wait. It’s really a stunning piece. I found the chairs on OverStock.com, and the runner was from Crate & Barrel.  I love fresh hydrangeas in my bathrooms, but especially on my dining room table. I will change up the table scheme according to the seasons. It’s pretty warm here now, so I’m going with a spring/summer theme.

We wanted the wood to appear more grey, as we felt that would be the best match for the color scheme in our home. Byron and I have very similar taste. We like clean, gender neutral, earthy and neutral colors, and LOTS of light.

We found these GREAT little ceramic containers from Williams Sonoma, and we wrapped our flatware inside striped napkins from Sur La Table. This concept was inspired by my husband Byron’s work as a chef. He’s very involved in the design choices revolving around the kitchen.

 Master Bath

My master bathroom is the place I go for complete relaxation. All of my beauty routines are done in this room, so I like it to feel like a spa sanctuary. I diffuse lavender when I bathe, and keep my favorite bath and beauty products in close reach. I also love to burn candles for ambience.

My closet is where the little girl in me lives, and organizing it is one of my favorite past- times. haha

Here’s my favorite part of the 3 sided closet.

Olivers Room

I wanted my sons room to have a whimsical and playful feel to it. This Tee Pee from www.tneestpees.com was exactly the touch I was looking for. He’s 1 and ABSOLUTELY loves it. I keep his night light turtle in there, and it reflects stars onto the top of the tee pee. We LOVE to have story time inside.

 Living Room

I’m still finishing up this room, but I’m already loving the coffee table from Restoration Hardware, and coffee table decor. I have a few cook books signed by Byron’s favorite chefs. I love a candle on my coffee table, although I generally only light candles when my son naps, or goes to sleep at night. I love the Dayna Decker and Jo Malone candles. I like to have either a plan or fresh floral arrangement on my coffee table. A plant is a little easier to up keep.

Love how everything is looking. Your table is gorgeous! If you don’t mind letting me know the exact name of your chairs? I’ve been looking for a while for nice/good quality chairs on Overstock. How’s the quality on these?
Thank you for the inspiration Rachel!

I purchased that at the container store. They are called stackables. =) You may be able to search “jewelry box ” or “Jewelry organization” on my blog, and find a direct link to them! xo
