Best Of Skincare

October 20, 2015

Over the years I’ve tried hundreds and I mean hundreds of skincare products! Working as a skincare specialist exposed me to tons of different brands, plus I was always a skincare junkie since I was 12. The journey to finding the perfect ones has definitely been a long one, and will probably be ever-changing, but as of now these are my go to products! They range in prices, potencies, and brands, but they each have their benefits and I would recommend any of them to a friend.

A full body moisturizer is essential! These are my go to brands that I’m obsessed with right now. You can find Weleda at most chain stores (target, sprouts, etc.), Kiehl’s has their own chain of stores (generally in the mall), and La Roche-Posay can be found at most drugstores. I love that even their body moisturize has sunscreen in it. Big perk =)

When it comes to price, there really are options for every range. Kate Somerville tends to be on the pricier side, but her products are the real deal! I like the Nourish Daily and Age Arrest moisturizer in her range. Her products together can be an investment, but definitely worth it. That said, I’ve also been really fond of the Pond’s Anti-Wrinkle Cream. It’s a classic and a steal for only $6! It contains Lactic acid and makes your skin glow!

A vitamin C serum of some sort if essential for me. It is very brightening, which is great for any type of discoloration, and also helps with an anti-aging. I love this double C serum from Kate, and this Fast Blast mask is an incredible quick brightening treatment mask.

Kate SomerVille Mega-C | M-61 Vitamin C Facial Mask

These c serums are more affordable options, and work great also.

Turbo Booster C Powder | La Roche-Posay Redermic C

For more severe discoloration, a brightening serum can definitely help. These two products may come in small packages, but they definitely pack a punch =) I’ve noticed amazing results with the La Roche Posay serum!!!

Sunscreen, sunscreen, SUNSCREEN! It’s soooo important! Definitely one of the best tools to prevent aging from happening in the first place. In regards to brand options, I’m a Kate Sommerville fan all the way, but when it comes to the most recommended sunscreen by skincare professionals, La Roche-Posay is a very effective and popular choice. It’s been at the top of the market for years. It’s incredibly light weight and not heavy on the skin. I remember working in beauty stores and that being the top seller by far! I also love that it comes in a tinted form too. Works just like a BB cream!

Lastly, I love a good night time serum! It’s the optimal time for maximum product absorption, so perfect time for rich serum to really penetrate the skin. These are my two fave options. I’m currently obsessing over the amazing smell and feel of the Kiehls midnight recovery concentrate. (=

Hope you enjoyed this post!

I had no idea that La Roche Posay had a serum for pigmentation! I really love them as a brand, especially for their amazing suncare, so I will most likely check it out! Thanks for sharing your favourites – it’s always really interesting to hear what someone with so much knowledge about skincare uses and loves, and the fact that it is a mixture of brands and prices shows what an honest selection it is.

Ponds is only $5? Even on the website you cite (for affiliate reimbursement) the average price is in the $12-$15 range. Why aren’t you honest about your sponsors? I unsubscribed from you a long time ago. Now I remember why.

I love when you do skincare posts and videos. I really trust your judgment because you have beautiful skin and I know not all products work the same on people but, I always think they are worth trying and the products you mention never disappoint.

Skin Food is one cream that’s on my list to buy because Weleda is an amazing brand and everyone talk so good about this particular cream.
As a skin specialist you are, don’t you think that anti-wrinckle creams should be used when you start having actually wrinckles?? I have no idea about that but I’m thinking of changing my routine to something more than hydration and I don’t know if there is something between hydration and anti-wrinckle.
    Thank you in advanced!! xoxo

    Hi Rachel !

I’m french and in France we don’t have Kate Somerville but we have la Mer.
We can still order Kate Somerville but with a lot of taxes.
Does Kate Somerville is better than La Mer or it’s ok if I just do La Mer.
    Thanks !
