DIY Face, Body, Hand & Foot Scrub

September 21, 2014

I am always pushing proper skin care, but often times the best products can have the highest price tags!

Today I want to show you how to make an assortment of highly beneficial skin scrubs using nothing but common household ingredients.

Hope you enjoy! =)

Cucumber Mint Face Scrub

All you need is mint, cucumber, sugar and coconut oil.  In fact, all of my scrubs today will be made using coconut oil! I’ve been a big fan of using this particular oil, from head-to-toe, for years! Its extremely hydrating, contains anti-aging properties, and smells yummy =)

Start by slicing up half of a cucumber and washing a small handful of mint leaves. Cucumber replenishes and rehydrates your skin, while mint leaves you feeling cool and refreshed!

Take both the mint and cucumber, and puree them together until they’ve formed a nice creamy mixture.

Next measure out 3 cups of fine sugar. I always use sugar instead of salt when in comes to my face.  I want to be as gentle as possible on this sensitive area of skin.

Take half a teaspoon of coconut oil…

…and combine it with all of the other ingredients.

Take the mixture and scoop it into a jar for storage.  I like to use an ice cream scooper.  Works perfectly!

All things said, you’ll be left with a super refreshing, moisturizing, renewing, and cost effective face scrub. It looks pretty too!

Rosemary Lemon Hand Scrub

For this you will need sugar, lemons, fresh rosemary and coconut oil.

Start with a 3/4 cup of cocunut oil…

…and 3 cups of fine sugar.

Add 1 handful of finely chopped rosemary. Rosemary is used not only for a fresh scent, but to treat inflammation and prevent aging.  As they say, the most obvious sign of age is a person’s hands, so this is the best ingredient for a hand scrub!

Squeeze 3-4 fresh lemons into the mix. Lemons clarifies, cleanses, and brightens your skin.

Mix, mix, mix…

…and jar up for safe keeping! This blend is a great way to keep your hands youthful and soft as can be!

Honey-Mint-Grapefruit Body Scrub

This one requires honey, grapefruit zest, mint, fine sea salt and coconut oil.

Measure out a 3/4 cup of honey.  Honey is a great antioxidant, moisturizer, and clarifying agent.

Combine with 2 cups of coconut oil…

…and 3 cups of fine sea salt. This is a little more course than sugar. Perfect for exfoliating your body.

Add a small handful of chopped mint to make this one refreshing and soothing scrub.

Taking a small hand grater, zest 1 whole grapefruit into a medium bowl.

Grapefruit will act as an antioxidant and anit-aging compound. Add the zest to the other ingredients and mix.

What you’re left with is an invigorating body scrub that will leave your skin smelling SO good!

Lemon Peppermint Foot Scrub

For this you need a whole lemon, peppermint essential oil, coarse sea salt, and coconut oil.

 Zest 1 whole lemon…

… and add to 1 1/2 cups of coconut oil.

Since feet are prone to pesky infections, we will use peppermint oil in this scrub.  Peppermint prevents and treats different types of fungi, as well as refreshes your skin.

Add 1 teaspoon of peppermint essential oil to the mix…

… and fold it all in.

What you are left with is a thick, amazingly scented, foot scrub that will leave you with the softest feet in town!

Jar some for you, your family, and your friends.

This makes the perfect, and most thoughtful, present for any occasion.

For BEST results, keep these refrigerated and use within a week.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Until next time.

xo, Rachel

These sound amazing! That cucumber mint one sounds especially good – maybe just because my favorite cocktail is mint and cucumber, haha
