DIY Seasonal Snow Globe <3

December 19, 2014

 Hey everyone!

The holiday season is here and if you need a quick gift idea, or fun activity for the kids, this is it!

All it takes are a few simple items and you can make a stunning DIY Snow Globe (=

Start with a mason jar.  You can choose any size you want, as long as the items you intend to put in the snow globe are proportionate.

For my snow globe decor, I’m using this festive holiday ornament.  You can choose whatever you like! (=

Using crazy glue, I attached the decor to the bottom side of the lid.  Remember that the mason jar will be upside down when complete, so the top will essentially be the bottom base.

I purchased most of my supplies at Michaels, but you can use any craft store near you.

Next I spread a good amount of crazy glue on the lid and sprinkled it with emerald sparkles.  I used this to conceal the appearance of the lid.  Having excess glitter that doesn’t stick is perfectly fine, as I also used this glitter in the water mixture of the snow globe.

Fill the mason jar, almost fully, with distilled water…

…and add about 1/2 teaspoon of Glycerin to the water.  This will help the snow/glitter fall more slowly.  I found this ingredient in the natural living department of Wholefoods.

Next add your snow (white glitter)…

…and a few more emerald sparkles for color.

Dip the tree into the jar…

…and seal tight!

Give it a shake…

…and you’ll have a stunning DIY Snow Globe!

This was so much fun and I love the end result.

Hope you enjoyed this post,

xo Rachel

Great DIY, looks like something even a DIY-noob like myself can do. Would make a cute table decoration if you have kids running around.
