Farmers Market Flowers & Homemade Flower Food

August 7, 2014
Hello! =)
Hope you’re having a fantastic Wednesday!
Every Wednesday, Santa Monica has a beautiful farmers market. I love to get fresh flowers and have some lunch with my family by the ocean. I thought I’d share my day with you!
I love the farmers market because they always have fresh and in-season flowers. There’s lots to choose from.
They had some beautiful flower options today.
I ended up choosing these long stemmed purple flowers.
Upon bringing them home, I trimmed them to fit my vase.
Flowers need some type of flower food.
Since the farmers market flowers don’t come with a little packet (like some grocers) I make my own. It’s SUPER easy.
Easy Flower Food Recipe
Add to 1/2 cup Water:
Dash of sugar
Squeeze of a 1/2 a lemon
Few drops of bleach
(to prevent the slimy yucky water)
I have a little dropper from Michaels that I keep the flower food in. I always make sure to label it. Adding a few drops to the water, will give your flowers a longer life.
I just adore flowers! They always lift my spirit. Hope you enjoyed todays post!
xo, Rachel
