I get offers for brand sponsorships on a daily basis. I usually ask the brand to send me the product, and I ask for a few weeks to test it out before I respond with an answer. I often ask for multiple products so my friends and family can try and give me their feedback as well.
For partnerships I usually try to be open minded, yet honest. There are a lot of factors that go into me choosing a brand to work with, but I generally say no to most offers.
I was introduced to a new product from Ponds and asked if I would be willing to take the 2 week anti-wrinkle challenge and post my anti wrinkle tips along with the product on my YouTube channel if I liked it. I have been using more drugstore brands lately and there are definitely MANY treasures not ONLY in the skincare aisle, but also in the hair, nail, and makeup aisle. I decided it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try. Besides, both my grandmas have gorgeous skin and always swore by Ponds cold cream.
I think working at Nordstrom for so many years made me a bit of a package snob…Sounds horrible right? But don’t be fooled. There are some products at the drugstore that meet, or exceed, the products available at the department store. In my opinion, this is one of them! With all this said, this post is NOT a sponsored post. I decided to share Ponds on my YouTube channel in a few weeks, and that post IS sponsored, however I am not AT ALL obligated to write this post.
I gotta say, I was pretty blown away by this stuff. It reminded me SOOO much of La Mer, except I actually liked it much better. I gave a jar of the Ponds cream to both my mom and my two friends. I asked them to give me their feedback on the cream and tell me what they honestly thought. Everyone gave the product glowing reviews! Even I, who am normally pretty skeptical, found this product to be spectacular. If someone ever asks me for a La Mer dupe, this will forever be my suggestion. La Mer is supposed to be the creme de la creme of nourishing and anti-wrinkle moisturizers. J Lo is said to use it all over her entire body for anti aging purposes. Both these creams have many of the same ingredients, but I think that Ponds delivers what La Mer claims to deliver and more. I saw a huge difference in my skin after two weeks of consistent use. It looked healthier, hydrated, plump and glowing. It’s one of the better face creams I’ve ever tried and you can’t beat the price point.
La Mer and Ponds also have very similar smells, but if you’re looking for a fragrance free option, I would stick to Cetaphil or CeraVe, which are always winners. The biggest difference is that La Mer is extremely rich and thick, almost like a whipped butter. It must be warmed in the hands for a moment before applying. La Mer starts at around $160. It was nice at first, but for the price I wasn’t blown away.
Ponds price point is about $8-12 depending on where you live. I think this it’s one of the skincare gems at the drugstore. It has a thick lotion feel, so it’s not as whipped and buttery as the La Mer cream, however I saw a bigger difference in my skin using the Ponds cream than I ever did using La Mer. Ponds never made me break out. Over time the La Mer cream did. I apply the cream all over my face, neck, and arms. For THAT price point, I could smear it all over my body and perhaps looks as good as J Lo?! ;0) haha
