Tahoe Vacation

May 11, 2015

I’ve been so MIA on here lately. My apologies. I wanted to catch you up a bit on what we’ve been up to. We went on a little getaway vacation this past week. My husbands brother lives down near Lake Tahoe, so we wanted to take a little road trip down to visit him and his family. We decided to stay in the heart of Tahoe and enjoy Mothers Day weekend there.

I’m traveling a bunch this month, so I wanted to finally get an MZ Wallace Metro Tote for packing. I’ve had my eye on them for a few years now. This is super light weight, and actually holds a ton!  It was the perfect bag to bring to Tahoe. It fits everything for both me and Oliver. I HIGHLY recommend them..

The drive up was so beautiful. We even hit a little blizzard. Imagine my shock, a blizzard in May.. Luckily, I packed lots of warm clothes for everyone.

I did a little research on hotels before we went. I found a smaller hotel called The Landing Resort & Spa. If you ever go to Tahoe, I highly recommend it. It had excellent reviews online, so I was excited to try it out. The price range wasn’t too outrageous, but I felt it was an excellent hotel for the price point . It’s always a good start to be greeted with champagne, right? I actually didn’t expect that part at all. haha

The room had some awesome features that made it even more enjoyable. The fireplace was one of them. It had a very cabin like feel. Very quaint!

I was especially amused by the heated floors and toilet seat. That is such a nice feature, especially coming in from a cold crisp day outside in Tahoe.

The hotel is right on the lake, so it had a beautiful lake shore and mountain view.

Tahoe is so breathtaking. It was nice to just relax with a hot cup of tea and watch the sunset from our room.

The views are breathtaking. Such a gorgeous place. I love seeing this type of beauty. Not to be cheesy, but it feels refreshing to my soul.

The weather was all over the place. When we first arrived, it was pretty cold. The next day, it got warm enough for me to just wear a tank top. Byron and his brother went fly fishing, and Oliver and I stayed back with his Auntie and cousin. Oliver wears almost exclusively Target clothes, because why buy expensive clothes when they grow out of them so quickly? haha I did however splurge a bit more on the baby UGGS. Turned out to be a good splurge.. He wore them the entire trip! I actually think Target may have a dupe for kids UGGS, but I haven’t seen baby ones. His little pose cracks me up. He is a total sweetheart, but he is definitely becoming more of a little stinker the older he gets. Perhaps it’s Karma for what I put my parents through?? haha I think the weather, long drive, and altitude contributed to it a bit.. Poor little pumpkin! Love him to death.

We would have loved to spend more time there. We are hoping to go back again this summer and spend much more time there! There are so many activities and adventures, and we hardly scratched the surface. Have you ever been to Tahoe? What do you love to do out there?

Hope you enjoyed this post.

ps. How was your Mothers Days?

xo, Rachel

When I was a small child, we lived there! Literally right across the street from the beach. I remember going to the beach every day in the summer, and when I ask my mom about that time period, she says it was kind of like living in paradise. 🙂

It’s really refreshing to see you using Target clothing as opposed to designer brands – we don’t get Target in UK ut it’s lovely to see that despite your sucesss you are still down to earth. Your trip looks beautiful, hopefully my family will get to visit the US one day x

I follow you for years now and I couldn’t think of a more loving environment and parents for Oliver to grow up! But on you latest post about Tahoe Vacation you posted a picture of Oliver’s Baby’s UGGs and asked how your viewers spend their mother’s day.

Know what i was doing? I was demonstrating. Me and other mothers were demonstrating to call attention to all the non-human-mothers, that can’t love and cuddle with their babies. All the mothers that are just alive to give birth to new babies over and over again.

I’m talking about non-human animals, about “livestock”.

Rachel, your babyboy’s UGGs are made out of someone’s baby, who never been able to cuddle her/him on mother’s day. Just because they are non-human.

Please think about it and care for, that in future more mothers are able care about their babies.

    Thankyou, Love, Leonie
