I LOVE the internet.
I grew up in the generation of “www.”, “AIM” and “You’ve Got Mail.”
Heck, both my husband and I primarily make our living on the internet. It’s a wonderful resource, a creative and informational outlet, and also a fabulous place to get lost and waste time ;0).
WITH THAT SAID, I also really love signing offline. I feel so happy if I go a day, or two, or three without checking my phone every few minutes (to see what’s happening in everyone else’s life), and just focus on living and enjoying my own life. Sounds terrible to admit, but sometimes I literally have to tell myself “Rachel, look up (from your phone) and focus on your own life.”
I want to enjoy the internet (like anything else) in moderation, but sometimes it’s easy to get lost and waste too much precious time online. Now, more than ever, I am noticing how time flies, and how short this life really is.
Here are a few pictures I took recently while enjoying the outdoors with my family.
We live pretty close to Malibu =) We were married in Malibu, and often go to the beach to enjoy a hike or beach day.
I’m soooo in love with flowers.
They always make me instantly happy. I love them in my home, but I always stop to observe and smell flowers if I’m out and about. You know that saying “stop and smell the roses?” I feel like it’s these little things that we see everyday that we become desensitized to, but aren’t flowers so amazing?
I saw this flower while I was walking with Oliver and my niece and nephew the other day. I had to stop a snap a picture.
Byron and I took Oliver for his first hike the other day. Byron was wearing Oliver in our boba baby carrier, and I was snapping shots of the beautiful view. =)
Here’s the view from our Balcony (at sunset). =) I love the palm trees. =) Byron and I love to sit and chat outside at night while enjoying the perfect California summer weather. Summer nights in California are magical. Summer holds so many wonderful for me. Byron and I first started dating in the summer. We totally had a summer romance (2005)! We would stay up super late at night and chat about everything, we also did a lot of smooching… A few years later (2007), we were married in the summer. I just love the warm night time breeze, the beautiful skies, and the light floral smell in the air.
As you read this post, I hope it inspires you to to look for the beauty in your day. =) That probably sounds super cheesy, but it’s true. Don’t miss beautiful moments. Build memories. Life is too precious and too short.
