What We’ve Been Up To

June 23, 2014

I’m back.. I must admit, I haven’t really been doing too well keeping up with social media lately.
These past few weeks have been kinda crazy, but I thought I would catch you up a bit.
This past month was kind of a whirl wind. We started with a quick trip to Chicago. I was selected to work with a contact lens and eye care brand company called Alcon. I was flown to Chicago with Byron for a photo shoot, and I will be the face of their advertisements come fall. The ad should be in a bunch of magazine & big box stores (Walmart ect.).
Since it was a 24 hour trip, and the whole thing was SUPER scheduled and jam packed, we decided it would be best for Oliver to stay with my mother over night. =) He ended up just having a little sleep over with his two cousins.
Here are a few pics from our trip!

we felt SUPER fancy/out of place in first class!! The warm cookies are epic! lol
We got there around 6pm, and decided to walk around a bit. We walked to the famous “bean,” and then had some dinner.
We made a quick stop at Sears tower!! Don’t look down!! haha
The next morning we took a car & all our packed bags to a studio. They had makeup and hair, wardrobe, and an ENTIRE team there making sure I looked good!! haha
The shoot lasted about 8 hrs, and then we were driven to the airport and flown home.
Upon getting back, Byron’s dad (who lives in New Mexico) came into town. It was the first time he was meeting Oliver, so we tried to really focus on spending quality family time together. We all went for a little beach front getaway, and had some nice family time.
Here we are driving to Oxnard.
Byron looked thrilled about this selfie! haha
Showing Oliver the view.. Look at those chubby legs! =)
Ejoying some relaxing time and tea!
A beautiful view and sunset!
After our trip with the fam, we were trying to get everything in order for Byron’s next work trip. He needed some warmer clothes and some nice business attire, so we did some serious Byron shopping. He was flown to New York City to meet up with Samsung and a few 3 Michelin star chefs. The chefs were working on the new Samsung elite kitchen appliances. Byron was super excited about this. He had the chance to meet the chef that initially inspired him to start working for Thomas Keller and Gordon Ramsay. I remember Byron reading his book when we were very first married, and Byron was working at a hotel as a line cook. The book “Letters To A Young Chef” (by Daniel Boulud) inspired Byron to seek out his dream to work at the most elite restaurants in LA, and really hone his cooking skills. Byron is super humble though, and will ALWAYS ALWAYS say “I have so much to learn.. I just love food.” He doesn’t really believe he’s some master chef, he’s just in love with the art of food. May sound cheesy, but it’s true. As his wife, I can say that it’s truly his passion.
ANYWAY, the trip was very exciting for him, and he just couldn’t stop telling me, “I can’t believe this is my job, I can’t believe I’m getting paid to do this.” I was just so excited for him.  We discussed the possibility of us all going as a family with him to New York, but we decided to save the money to fly me and Oliver out, and choose a time to go when Byron wouldn’t be so busy working.

Besides the few trips we’ve taken, we’ve just been really enjoying family time. We are so in love with Oliver, but also being first time parents is overwhelming. Sure, I babysat when I was younger, but having your own is definitely a full time job, and responsibility.  I have MASSIVE respect for every single mother I have ever met. Oliver is super happy and healthy and we are just adjusting, learning and enjoying every minute with our little dude. This summer is gonna be so crazy, we already have lots going on, and I will try to keep you all posted.
On another note.. I’ve been reorganizing/redecorating my house. My bedroom is ALMOST done.. I just need some nice new white lamp shades. The bedding was from (lots of you ask in my videos), and the mirror is from home goods.  =)
I have a few new beauty items I’m excited to share with you, so I will try to be better about blogging what I’ve been loving. Here are some of my recent YouTube videos if you wanna catch up. xo
Here’s a diary of my trip to Chicago and also a little beauty routine I did to prepare for the photo shoot.
Here are some things I’ve been loving for my home.
