Nashville Diary

First Day In Our NEW home- August 2022

If you’ve been following my journey, you may know that we moved to Nashville in August 2022.

Born and raised in Southern California, it was definitely a big change. To be honest, I never thought I would move to Nashville, but after the pandemic, we quickly realized California just wasn’t sustainable for the long term. There are many factors that go into making such a big move, and the decision wasn’t made lightly or with haste. We understood what a huge decision it was to uproot our family and our life. As we thought about our long term goals, we realized Nashville checked off so many of the boxes. We sold our farm in CA, and made plans to head to Tennessee.

Me and Byron came to Nashville together, with very little time to find a home. We are so thankful we were able to find the perfect fit within our budget. We had one car payment left before we reached our goal of being debt free in California (minus our home mortgage), so we decided to downsize and purchase a home that would allow us to be completely debt free here in Tennessee. This was an amazing and fulfilling goal to achieve together. We were also looking for a little bit of land to continue our passion and love for growing food. We wanted to be close to Nashville for our careers in food & music, but just enough outside of the city to enjoy a small town and country living.

Once we found our home, we started making arrangements to move. We downsized quite a bit, and fit all of our belongings into one POD (very much DIY). We drove for 5 days with the entire family (fur babies and all) in our two cars.

Shortly after arriving, and getting our items unpacked, we spent what was left of the summer days preparing for the upcoming school year, prepping our property, and getting plugged into our community.

Once the kids were settled into their school routine, I decided to put feelers out for a new band here in Nashville. I started gigging regularly and playing live consistenly with my new band. I’ve just begun to scratch the surface of the wonderful world of music here in this city, and I’m super excited for what’s to come.

It’s coming up on one year here.

I can truly say that we are really thriving here as a family. We made a few DIY adjustments to our home, and have been slowly building our homestead. I still create “Around The House” videos and lifestyle content on my YouTube channel. It takes patience and time to settle in and set roots, but we are very happy here. We are getting plugged into the community, and exploring options with our careers in this new city. Our children are thriving here, loving their school, and their very active outdoor lifestyle. It’s such a beautiful place to live. I’m constantly in awe of the beauty all around us here. We are excited to share our next chapter.

Here’s a peak at our homestead.
