DIY Homemade Potpourri

DIY Homemade Potpourri

These are a classic for the fall months, and a long tradition in our home.

What You Need:

1-2 Sliced Apples

1-2 Sliced Oranges

2-3 Cinnamon Sticks

1 Tablespoon Whole Cloves

Start by slicing your apples & oranges.

Fill a small pan or stove top safe glass pot with water.

Add sliced oranges and apples to the water. Add cinnamon sticks and cloves.

Bring the pot to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Let the brew simmer on the stove and fill your home with a warm and cozy fall scent. Keep an eye on the simmer, and add more water if needed. You can use the same brew for a few days in a row, but it should be tossed after 2 or 3 days.

Next, lets create a homemade dried potpourri. Iā€™m going to place my orange and apple slices on a dehydrator tray, and dehydrate for 10-12 hrs, or until completely dry.

Once the apple and orange slices are completely dry. I add them to a bowl with cinnamon sticks and whole cloves.

I add a few drops of cinnamon essential oil, but you can also add fall scented essential oils or fragrances of your choice.

I like to place the potpourri in decorative display trays around my home for a natural fall scent.

Enjoy!
